Is Home Decorators cabinetry sold at my local The Home Depot?
Yes. There are two ways to purchase Home Decorators Collection cabinetry. Online at hdckitchens.com or make an appointment with an in-store Kitchen Design Expert. (Note: not all store locations have a Kitchen Design Centers. Check your store for availablity.)
What makes this cabinetry different from other cabinetry out there?
In addition to the rigorous quality standards required by Home Decorators, you can buy with confidence knowing that this product has the same backing and commitment to customer satisfaction that you have come to expect from The Home Depot. In addition, The Home Depot respects your privacy and guarantees that all website transactions are safe and secure.
How can I get a sample to see if I like the color?

What are HDC Assembled Semi-Custom cabinets?
Assembled Semi-Custom cabinets are conventional face frame construction, factory built to order, just for you! They feature an all-plywood box and solid hardwood drawers with dovetail carpentry joints. Semi-Custom cabinets are fully assembled by our skilled cabinet builders and rigorously inspected before shipping direct to your home or jobsite. They are backed by a Limited Lifetime Warranty.
What are HDC Ready-to-Assemble cabinets?
Ready-to-Assemble or ‘RTA’ cabinets are all-plywood, European style, ‘Frameless’ construction. All this means is that there is no face frame attached to the front of the cabinet box. Door hinges and drawer runners are attached directly to the sturdy 3/4" thick plywood side panels. Cabinets are shipped in unassembled ‘kits’ for easy assembly at the jobsite. Cabinet panels feature pre-inserted wood dowels and are assembled with secure 2” long assembly screws.
Do I need a Finished Panel for the exposed cabinet sides?
Yes. All cabinet side panels have a raw birch veneer exterior. Exposed cabinet sides require a Finished End. In the Assembled Semi-Custom cabinet program you have up to three options: Factory Installed Finished Ends, V-groove End Panels, or Matching End Panels, which are constructed the same as a door. In the Frameless RTA program the Finished Ends are 3/4" thick panels which are wider than the cabinet sides.
What if I scratch my cabinetry during or after installation?
A “NO CHARGE” fill stick, touch-up pen and instructions are included with each order courtesy of Home Decorators Online Cabinetry.
How much "STUFF" can I safely put in the cabinets?
Each cabinet, no matter what size, is designed to safely hold 500 pounds of contents.
My existing cabinet drawers are falling apart, will these drawers fail?
All cabinet drawers and rollout trays feature a thick plywood floor, which is captured in a groove on all four sides. This ensures that the drawers will not fail and together with the concealed under-mount runner system, each drawer is rated for up to 75 lb.
My neighbor has cabinet doors that don’t ‘slam’ shut, do you offer these?
Yes, Soft Close doors and drawers are standard in the Assembled Semi-Custom cabinetry program and are standard features in the Frameless RTA cabinet program.
My cabinets have fixed shelves and I can't move them, do yours?
All standard Base, Wall and Tall cabinets include 3/4" thick plywood adjustable shelves.
Do I have to use shelf paper or shelf liners?
Cabinet interiors feature a sanitary varnished natural birch veneer. Shelf paper or liners are not required.
How can I be sure that I like the color before I place my order??
Wood stains and paint colors represented on this website will vary based on your monitor or device and the color, brightness and contrast settings. We strongly recommend that you order a
free color sample

How are the Thermo-foil doors constructed?
Thermo-foil doors and drawer fronts are constructed from premium quality Medium Density Fiberboard, also known as 'MDF', sealed with a durable and hygienic vinyl ‘thermo-foil’. MDF has similar characteristic to hardwood, but can be profiled more precisely and is much more structurally stable. This makes it ideal for the intricate paneling found in these door styles. The thermo-foil finish is a thick vinyl laminate with seals the face and profiles of the doors and drawer fronts.
How are the Shaker doors constructed?
Shaker style doors with a stained wood grain finish feature a 3" wide solid birch frame with a flat recessed center panel of birch veneer over Medium Density Fiberboard, also known as MDF. This makes the center panels more precise and provides a solid base for the hand selected natural wood veneers. Painted Shaker door styles are constructed entirely from solid MDF. This engineered wood material has similar characteristic to hardwood, but can be profiled more precisely and is much more structurally stable. This means there is less chance of door components moving, due to changes in temperature or humidity, which reduces the risk of cracks appearing in the durable painted finish.
How are the miter doors in the Assembled Semi-Custom program constructed?
Miter frame door styles with a stained wood grain finish feature a 2-3/4" wide solid birch frame and a solid birch raised center panel. Painted miter door styles are constructed entirely from solid MDF. This engineered wood material has similar characteristic to hardwood, but can be profiled more precisely and is much more structurally stable. This means there is less chance of door components moving, due to changes in temperature or humidity, which reduces the risk of cracks appearing in the durable painted finish.
How are the laminate miter doors in the Frameless RTA program constructed?
The frames of the miter doors in the Frameless RTA program are solid MDF profiles clad with a durable paper laminate. The flat recessed center panels are 1/4" thick MDF faced with a thermo-fused melamine laminate.
How are raised panel doors with applied molding constructed?
These premium door styles with a stained wood grain finish feature a 2-1/2" wide solid birch frame with a solid birch applied molding. The raised center panels are also constructed from solid birch staves. Painted versions are constructed entirely from solid Medium Density Fiberboard (MDF). This engineered wood material has similar characteristic to hardwood, but can be profiled more precisely and is much more structurally stable. This means there is less chance of door components moving, due to changes in temperature or humidity, which reduces the risk of cracks appearing in the durable painted finish.
How are the wood raised panel doors from the Frameless RTA program constructed?
The raised panel doors with stained wood grain finish feature a 2” wide solid birch frame and a solid birch raised center panel. Flat panel drawer fronts are birch veneer over MDF with a solid birch edging.

What if I already have a design?
You have three options available to you. Option #1 is to email or fax your design to the Home Decorators design center, and we will review for function and offer suggestions for your consideration. Once decided, we will provide quotes for your selected door style. Option #2 is for you to proceed directly to the shopping cart and enter all items from your design to complete order and receive pricing. Option #3 is to make an appointment with your local Home Depot instore Kitchen Design Expert to review your plans.
I don’t have a design or my kitchen measurements, how do I get started?
Not to worry, simply download the How to Measure Guide and follow the simple step-by-step measuring instructions. Once completed, email or fax to the Home Decorators Online Cabinetry design center and let our design professionals take it from there. Your new design including floor plan, elevations, perspectives and pricing will be emailed to you within 3 business days. You can also make an appointment with your local Home Depot instore Kitchen Design Expert to get started.
What happens after I send in my measurements?
Upon receipt of your measurements, Home Decorators Online Cabinetry will email you an acknowledgement and the project will be assigned to your own personal design advisor. Any communication from that time forward will be between yourself and your design advisor.
What if my measurements are wrong?

has checkpoints so you can double check your accuracy. Your personal design advisor will also review for accuracy and will contact you if there are any irregularities. You can also take advantage of The Home Depot measuring and installation services by calling 1-877-979-6683.
Do I need to know what appliances I’ll be using before you do my design?
You do not need to know the brand of appliances, but you do need to know what size of appliances you will be using.
How does linear foot pricing work?
Linear foot pricing is simply the 10’ x 10’ sample kitchen cabinetry total dollars divided by 20 lineal feet.
Are these cabinets strong enough to support a granite top?
The Home Decorators “All Plywood Advantage” insures the strength required to support any countertop material that you may select, and no additional reinforcing is required.
Can I tear out my old cabinets before my new cabinets arrive?
We STRONGLY recommend against removing your old cabinetry. Delays as the result of weather, strikes, accidents, etc. may occur and you do not want to be without the use of your kitchen any longer than possible.
What if I have problems and cannot install the cabinets myself?
For installation, you can always count on HOME SERVICES from The Home Depot by simply calling 1-877-979-6683.
ORDERING & DELIVERY FAQ’S
How do I save my quote if I run out of time?
If you have started to build a quote and realize you need more time to finish, you have the option to save your quote. When viewing your quote, click the “Save Quote” link located in the lower left-hand area of the
screen. Once you click on the Save Quote link, you will be prompted to enter your email address and a name for your project. After entering this information, click the “Save” button. Your quote will be saved for later retrieval.
How do I retrieve my quote?
To retrieve your saved quote, click on the
link located under
in the left navigation column of the main or home page. Once at the View Quote screen, click on “Retrieve Quote” in the lower left-hand area of the screen. You will be prompted to enter your email address. After entering your email, you will have access to all of your saved quotes. Click on the “Retrieve” button to the left of your desired quote to populate your shopping cart with the products you’ve saved. If you have forgotten the email address you used for your saved quotes, please call 1-866-373-9131 (8am-6pm Monday through Saturday EST) for assistance.
How do I clear my quote?
To clear all of the items in your quote, click on the

in the left navigation column of the main or home page. Once at the View Quote screen, click on the “Clear Quote” link in the lower left-hand area of your screen to remove all quotes. If you accidentally clear your quotes and want to retrieve them, click your browser’s back button.
Do you ship to AK, HI, PR, or GU?
Home Decorators online cabinetry is shipped to several locations within the continental 48 states. Please enter your zip code to determine if you are within our current service area.
What does curbside delivery mean?
Your cabinetry will be delivered to your homes curbside address. This is your opportunity to check your delivery against the bill of lading and to inspect product for any visible damage. You are responsible for moving the product inside your home.
When will my credit card be charged?
Your credit card will not be charged until credit authorization is received by The Home Depot.
Can I purchase with my Home Depot credit card?

How long does it take to process my order?
Once you have accepted the final design and placed order, The Home Depot will require 3-5 business days for final acceptance and processing.
How long will my shipment take?
Depending on your location, delivery to your home will occur within 2-5 business days of pick-up from factory.
How long after I order my cabinets will they ship?
Assembled Semi-Custom cabinet orders are built and shipped in 7-10 days. Frameless RTA cabinet orders ship in 2-10 days depending upon door style.

What if my order arrives damaged or is missing a piece?

What is the return policy?
You may return an item, or your entire order, within 30 days of receiving if you pay for the return freight plus 25% restocking fee. To request a return, you must contact Customer Service within 30 days for approval: Call toll-free 1-866-373-9131, or email your return request to
. All returned items must be packaged as they were received. Upon receipt of the products at our facility, we will promptly inspect the items and arrange for a refund of the cost of the items returned in saleable condition, less a restocking fee of 25%, less the cost of return freight.
